Whai Rawa Savings Programme

Whai Rawa is a medium-long term savings programme set up by Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu in 2006 to improve the wellbeing of Ngāi Tahu whānau by:

  • providing a vehicle for distributions to all whānau
  • encouraging savings for home ownership, education and retirement
  • being a ‘best of class’ savings vehicle
  • growing financial capability

Whai Rawa Fund Limited (WRFL) was appointed by Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu to manage Whai Rawa Trust and works with the Office of Te Rūnanga along with a number of other organisations.  WRFL reports directly to Te Rūnanga on a quarterly basis and has a Statement of Corporate Intent which documents goals it works towards.

The main regulator of Whai Rawa in NZ is the Financial Markets Authority.  Like KiwiSaver schemes, we’re required to have a current Product Disclosure Statement available free to members and prospective members at all time (contact us for a hard copy). The Product Disclosure Statement lays out the key details of how Whai Rawa works.
